About Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
A journey through the Pacific Rim, from Japan’s local sea life to the deep Pacific.

Kaiyukan recreates different marine environments from around the Pacific Rim, such as the Japan Forest, Aleutian Islands, and the massive Pacific Ocean tank in the center. You start on the top floor and gradually spiral downward, viewing the same tank at different depths.

The star of the show is the whale shark, along with manta rays, sharks, jellyfish and many other species. Lighting changes through the day and into the evening, giving different atmospheres to each area.

The aquarium is part of Tempozan Harbor Village, which also includes a large Ferris wheel, shopping mall and harbor area, making it easy to spend a half-day or full day here.
